Wisdom tooth removal: how it is done at our clinic

1. X-ray or OPG to see the position of the tooth; a CBCT scan at an imaging centre if the roots are close to the nerve.
2. Local anaesthesia with the anaesthesia booster.
3. A small opening in the gum; some bone may be removed and the tooth divided into pieces to take it out gently.
4. The socket is cleaned. Where needed, PRF (PRFuge) is placed to support healing, and graft from the tooth (Tooth Titan) where bone needs rebuilding.
5. Stitches, care instructions and medicines for pain and swelling.
6. Review and stitch removal after about 7 days.

Tooth extraction: how it is done at our clinic

1. X-ray of the tooth, and a check of your medical history and medicines (for example, blood thinners or diabetes).
2. Local anaesthesia with the anaesthesia booster.
3. The tooth is loosened and removed gently, keeping the surrounding bone.
4. Only where needed, for example when an implant is planned: the socket is filled with graft made from the same tooth (Tooth Titan) and PRF from your own blood (PRFuge).
5. Gauze pressure to stop bleeding, with written care instructions and medicines.
6. A review visit if needed.

Clean and safe

Used instruments are soaked in disinfectant and cleaned. They are packed and sealed in sterilisation pouches with a colour-change indicator. The pouches go through a steam autoclave cycle; the indicator changes colour to show the cycle was complete. Pouches are opened in front of you, at the chair, for your treatment.
